Severe Thunderstorm WATCH until 4am – South Central Texas

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been posted for portions of south central Texas through 4am tomorrow morning.  This includes the cities of Austin, San Antonio and Victoria and surrounding communities.  Ongoing storms across the region are expected to increase in areal coverage and intensity overnight and into tomorrow morning.  Large hail, quarter to golf ball size and wind gusts in excess of 70mph are possible as the leading edge of the complex of thunderstorms tracks east/southeast tonight between Austin and San Antonio and towards the central Texas coast by early morning. The threat for tornadoes with any of these storms is low…but is not completely outside the realm of possibility with sufficient wind shear in place.  Make sure you have a way to receive weather warnings should any be issued for your location.
