Your Sunday Forecast – Seasonal Temps – Slight Chance for Rain

Good morning and happy Sunday!  A little upper level disturbance over west Texas will help generate slight chances for rain today mainly across north central, west central, and northern Hill Country regions of the state today.  We already have a bit of rain activity on the radar west of Waco and over towards San Angelo.  This activity is nearly stationary and will likely die out a bit before regenerating as we get into the afternoon hours and peak daytime heating.  Overall rainfall amounts will be light and no severe weather is expected.  Below is an animated radar forecast through 11pm tonight.

Highs today will be seasonal and in the 90s across most of the state.  We may see a few 100 degree readings across the Rio Grande plains.  Cloud cover and the potential for showers across central and north central Texas will help keep highs in check.  Lows tonight will also be seasonal and in the 60s across the western half of the state with 70s expected across the eastern half.  Thankfully, we’re beginning to move into that time of the year when seeing 100s during the day and 80s during the night becomes less frequent.  By now, I think just about everyone is ready for the return of fall temps in the weeks ahead.

And because we can’t take our eyes off the tropics just yet…we have another Tropical Storm, “Fred”, which formed last night just southeast of the Cape Verde islands off the coast of Africa.  Fred is expected to reach hurricane strength within the next 24 hours and track generally northwest over the next few days.  As he’s many days and thousands of miles away from any potential threat to the US coast…if he even survives that long…there is no way to tell just yet if he will become a threat to the US or Texas coast.  At any rate…we’ll continue to keep an eye on things and keep you updated with the latest information.
