More Storms in the Panhandle Today; Summer Heat Continues

Good Tuesday morning and welcome to another summer day in Texas. The upper level high pressure responsible for the heat will let up just a tad over the next few days before kicking back into high gear by the end of the week. High temperatures in the Texas Panhandle today will actually be rather pleasant thanks to clouds and precipitation. Outside of the Panhandle its another hot summer day with high temperatures in the upper 90s to lower 100s. Heat index values along and east of Interstate 35 will range from 102 to 105 degrees. We will warm up a few degrees later this week with no widespread rain or relief from the heat in sight. One exception is the Texas Panhandle who will get a short reprieve from the heat today. Temperatures will cool (if you can call it that) into the 70s for tonight. The urban cities along with South Texas may struggle to get below 78 degrees.

Scattered strong thunderstorms are expected today in the Texas Panhandle. Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will be possible across West Texas, the Permian Basin, along with Southeast Texas and along the coast. The isolated popcorn storms in Southeast Texas will be associated with the seabreeze. A few severe storms will be possible again today out in the Panhandle with hail and gusty winds. We may see a complex of storms this afternoon that will move east into Oklahoma. Localized flooding is also possible.
