Temperatures will continue their climb today as an upper level high pressure influences our weather. This summer-like pattern will continue to ensure dry weather today along with south winds. By this afternoon we’ll see upper 80s to mid 90s across most of Texas. There’s a possibility that parts of the Permian Basin could approach the century mark today. Keep in mind that areas that have received a lot of rain over the past few weeks will remain a few degrees cooler. However humidity values will remain higher and thus heat index values (or what it feels like) will be rather unpleasant. Without the rain over the past few weeks most of Texas would easily be in the 90s to 100s today. Seasonal to slightly below average seasonal temperatures tonight with 60s to lower 70s along with a continued south winds. Summer has arrived in Texas – but don’t think we’re done with precipitation yet. El Nino is in place and we’re expecting additional precipitation events this summer. It’s just a matter of when.
